The MCU Tag

We’re both huge fans of Marvel movies and have watched a lot of the movies together. Due to the shows on Disney+ we’ve been in a bit of a marvel mood and thought we’d do a tag. We got this tag from Christine Smith and you can find her answers here.

How were you introduced to the MCU?

C: I think the first time I watched an MCU film was probably on the coach on a school trip. I’m pretty sure we watched Iron Man 2 before watching Toy Story 3. I don’t think I really got into it then, but by the time the first Avengers movie came out, I was definitely interested in superhero films.

M: If I’m honest I cannot for the life of me remember which MCU movie I watched first. However, I do think the further I got through secondary school and had friends who were very interested in superheroes I became much more invested.

What’s your favourite Marvel film?

C: Thor Ragnarok is probably my favourite as it’s the one I had the most fun watching.

M: My favourite would also have to be Thor Ragnarok, the humour in this film is just on another level for me.

Top favourite Marvel character?

C: It’s really hard to choose between Peter Parker and Loki. I love them both.

M: Hands down, for me it will always be Bucky.

If you were transported to the MCU and had to trade places with one of the superheroes, who would you choose?

C: He’s not really a superhero, but Loki. I’d love to be able to do magic and I could have such fun with all the illusions.

M: I would say Shuri I love just how intelligent she is and that she takes no shit from anyone.

What are some of your favourite quotes from the films?

C: “On your left,” Avengers Endgame, “He’s a friend from work,” Thor Ragnarok, anything Korg says

M: “If you’re nothing without the suit, then you shouldn’t have it.” Spider-Man: Homecoming

“I’m made of rocks, as you can see. But don’t let that intimidate you. You don’t need to be afraid unless you’re made of scissors. Just a little rock-paper-scissor joke for you.” Thor Ragnarok

Which crew would you rather be a part of The Avengers, The Revengers or The Guardians of the Galaxy?

C: The Revengers because I think that they’d be the most fun to spend time with. I’d love to be a part of The Avengers but I think the infighting and tension would get old really fast.

M: It would have to be The Revengers for me as well, I think it would just be much cooler.

Favourite and least favourite ship?

C: I don’t know if I have a favourite ship but probably Stucky or Spideychelle. My least favourite ship, however, is Steve and Sharon for all the obvious reasons.

M: My favourite would probably be Happy and Aunt May and I’m not a massive fan of Bruce and Natasha.

Favourite and least favourite villain?

C: My favourite villain is probably Hela, or maybe Thanos because I loved how both of them had the heroes having to lose to win. My least favourite is Ultron because he was just a poorly written villain.

M: My favourite would have to be Killmonger from Balck Panther. I loved the storyline and who doesn’t love Michael B Jordan. My least favourite is probably Mysterio from Spider-Man: Far From Home. I think Jake Gyllenhaal played the character well but because you spend half the film thinking he’s a good guy it just doesn’t have the same effect as a standout baddie.

Unpopular MCU opinion?

C: The films are getting worse rather than better. I think with the MCU being enormous now and the studio worrying about spoilers, there’s the issue with the actors not having any context to their character’s actions or who they’re even on set with. In comparison to some of the earlier films, there’s a little bit of a disconnect between some of the actor’s expressions and what they should be emoting.

M: Although I loved it at the time, looking back at the ‘all female’ scene in Endgame it did feel rather forced. I prefer when they just show the women being badass characters like in Black Panther and Captain Marvel.

What’s your favourite Stan Lee cameo?

C: It’s not an MCU film, but Stan Lee’s cameo in The Amazing Spider-Man is my favourite. Him in the library with his headphones on whilst the fighting is going on behind him is just iconic.

M: My favourite would have to be either when Lee is on the bus reading ‘The Doors of Perception’ in Doctor Strange or when he is the DJ in the strip club in Deadpool.
