Anne Frank’s Story ~ Carol Ann Lee

Our theme for February was religion/faith. After having a really bad start to the month reading-wise I decided to pick this book up because it’s quite short and thought it would give me a bit of a kickstart. Initially, I wasn’t quite sure what to read and when going through my books I decided to pick this retelling of Anne Frank’s story aimed at children. I remember buying this book when I was in primary school after learning about World War Two and the Holocaust. I wanted to learn more about what the Frank’s and so many other families had to endure during those times.

I won’t go into too much detail as I feel that most people at least know the basics of Anne Frank and her story. Anne and her family went into hiding during World War Two because they were Jewish. Unfortunately, they were found out with most of the family/freinds meeting horrific ends in various concentration camps.

Due to being such a young age when this purchase was recommended for me to learn more about Anne’s story rather than reading her actual diary as this version was much more accessible for children of my age.

Rereading this version has reignited my passion for history and learning about historical figures. This version by Carol Ann Lee, although heartbreaking, still manages to portray what an inspiration Anne Frank was to so many in a way that can be accessed by all ages. If anything after reading this it has made me want to finally read the full version of her diary, something that I have previously put off reading due to its uncomfortable nature.

I gave Anne Frank’s Story by Carol Ann Lee a⭐️️⭐️⭐️️⭐️ star rating.
