Overrated, Appropriately Rated and Underrated

This week’s post has been inspired by a TikTok from @myreadsbooks where she went through the books that she thought were overrated, appropriately rated and underrated. We really loved this concept, so have each chosen two books that we feel fit into the above categories. Those we absolutely loved and agreed were definitely worth the hype, those that do not get enough love, especially in the BookTok community, and those that left us feeling rather underwhelmed although loved by so many.

Overrated:

  • Girl A by Abigail Dean
  • Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams
  • Shadow of Blood and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
  • The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

Appropriately Rated:

  • The House on the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune
  • Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell
  • Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
  • Babel: An Arcane History by R.F. Kuang

Underrated:

  • The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell
  • I Stop Somewhere by T.E. Carter
  • The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern
  • A Winter’s Promise by Christelle Dabos
