Our Top 5 Video Games

A while back, we posted our top five games, primarily focusing on card and board games. This time we’d delve into our top five video games. Currently, we’re in the mood for cosy video games (not that action RPGs and first-person shooters aren’t fun!)

Stardew Valley available on Switch, PC, Playstation, Xbox

Stardew is a farming RPG. You have inherited a farm from your grandfather, it’s a bit overgrown but with some hand-me down tools and some help from the town folk you’ll learn to thrive off of the land.

Stardew Valley is addictive as there’s so much to do. It is so much more than a farming game and there is expansive lore and lots of characters to interact with. There is also a multiplayer option.

Strange Horticulture available on Switch and Windows

Strange Horticulture is an occult puzzle game. You own a plant store and you have to find and identify plants to help your customers. You can choose to join a coven or a cult, it’s up to you. Just don’t forget to pet your cat!

This is a recent discovery and so much fun. What could be better, plants, puzzles and a cat! It’s not the longest of games but it does feel very cosy and its fantasy Lake District feels very magical.

Journey available on Playstation, Windows and iOS

Journey is an indie adventure game. Accompanied by a beautiful soundtrack, explore the mysterious deserts and ruins as you discover the secrets of the world of Journey.

This is such a beautiful game. The game is well worth playing for just the art and music alone. It’s a short game that feels very wholesome.

It Takes Two available on Switch, Windows, Playstation, Xbox

It Takes Two is a multiplayer game. You and a friend play as Cody and May, who are on the brink of divorce. They have been shrunk down into dolls and have to repair their fractured relationship in order to become human again.

It Takes Two is a platform game with a lot of humour. The characters are funny and have unique game mechanics which makes it even more fun. There are lots of little party game challenges to play against each other whilst you are navigating the world.

Bear and Breakfast available on Switch and Windows

Bear and Breakfast is a cosy management adventure game. You run a B&B in the woods but you’re a bear! Hank and his friends find a shack in the woods and with teenage enthusiasm turn it into a B&B, bringing human tourists back into the area.

Honestly, this is probably the most stressful game on this list. There is always so much going on and it’s so very easy to lose hours playing this game. There are lots of areas to unlock and the art style is just beautiful. The characters are fun and it’s a very easy game to get to grips with the mechanics of.
