Heartstopper Volume One ~ Alice Oseman

Heartstopper by Alice Oseman is the first volume in the series. Charlie and Nick get sat next to each other when their school changes to vertical tutor groups. Charlie is in year 10 and after being outed the year before, he’s just glad that he’s not being bullied anymore. Nick is a soft-hearted rugby player in year 11. They quickly become friends and maybe a little more.

I’ve been waiting to read Heartstopper for a few months and I reserved it from the library but it took months to be available. I dived straight into it and I loved it. I haven’t watched the Netflix show yet but I’m very much looking forward to it.

Heartstopper was a very quick read with really fun drawings. Both Nick and Charlie were very real and they talked like British teenagers which I loved, too many times authors fail to get the dialogue right but Alice Oseman nailed it.

Charlie and Nick were so very cute and I can’t wait to continue reading their story and eventually watching it.

I gave Volume One of Heartstopper four and three-quarter stars.
