girl, 11 ~ Amy Suiter Clarke

If I am honest I’m not too sure why it has taken me so long to write this review. So long that I have since returned the book to my local library. Girl, 11 by Amy Suiter Clarke caught my eye on the shelf straight away and once I read that it was about a girl who investigates old cold cases on her podcast I just could not resist

Girl, 11 follows true crime podcaster Elle Castillo on her hunt to identify the infamous Countdown Killer. For twenty years his gruesome pattern has escalated with each victim being a year younger than the last. Many believe him to be dead but Elle has other ideas and is hellbent on finding the truth. When a new investigation gets a little too close to home can Elle catch the killer before it’s too late.

This read was truly heart pounding and probably one of the most suspenseful books I have read this year. I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish and was mesmerised by the intricate twists and turns that I just did not see coming. I also loved the format of this book as it was something I hadn’t really seen in many other books. The normal narration was intertwined with snippets of the podcast which made you feel like you were part of the investigation.

For a debut novel this book is very impressive and I would be very intrigued if Amy Suiter Clarke were to write a sequel to Castillo’s story. I gave Girl, 11 a well deserved 5⭐️ rating.
