Monthly Favourites: January

January is at an end and we thought we’d sum up the month by sharing what we loved over the past thirty-ish days.

Book:

C: Kidnap on the California Comet by M.G. Leonard and Sam Sedgman

M: The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman

TV Show:

C: I don’t actually watch much television at the moment, I’ve only watched two shows this month and one of them is WandaVision which has only a few episodes at the moment, the other is A Perfect Planet, narrated by David Attenborough and as there’s only one episode left, I think I can say I’ve watched the entire series. I do love a good animal documentary and I think I’ve watched every series David Attenborough has done that has come out in the last twenty years.

M: I haven’t actually watched masses of tv this month which is quite unusual for me. Of what I have watched it would have to be either Bridgerton or The Queen’s Gambit. Both are incredible but so different from one another. I would highly recommend both

Game:

C: I’m a little bit addicted to Stardew Valley at the moment. I’m playing for several hours each evening and when I’m not playing I tend to be watching twitch streams of the game or listening to the soundtrack when I’m studying.

M: In the first lockdown last year, for some unknown reason, I decided that I was going to rebuild every residential in The Sims4. As you can imagine this is a never-ending task, so I am still making my way through that.

Album:

C: Evermore by Taylor Swift. I just constantly have these songs stuck in my head, most notably No Body No Crime.

M: January for me has also been filled with Taylor Swift. Alternating between folklore and evermore, she has been on repeat pretty much every day.

Beauty Product:

C: With it being cold outside I’ve found that I almost always have dry or cracked lips and nothing seems to work as well as the aloe vera Vaseline.

M: One of my goals for this year was to actually stick to a skincare routine. I suffer from very dry patches on my face, so have been trying to find the right product to use. For Christmas, in a hamper, I received some new products. My favourite being the Garnier Organic Lemongrass Detox Gel Face Wash which seems to be helping so far.

Food

C: I was given a box of white chocolate covered Oreos for Christmas and I just couldn’t get enough of them. I’m not usually the biggest fan of Oreos, I prefer a plain biscuit rather than a chocolate one, but the white chocolate makes it slightly sweeter and I think it just works.

M: If I’m honest I haven’t really been very adventurous with my cooking recently. However, I am trying to eat slightly healthier and have really gotten back into the routine of making a smoothie every day. As a substitute recently in my food shopping I got some oat milk instead of what I normally drink and although I don’t like the taste of it in hot drinks I have found that it makes my smoothies so much creamier which I have been loving.

Place You’ve Been:

C: With us not being able to go pretty much anywhere at the moment due to the national lockdown and my usual walk route far too muddy and slippy due to the weather, I’ve found myself down the beach a lot.

M: Same as Claire, due to lockdown I haven’t really been anywhere new but just continuing to relish in the fact we live in such a beautiful area with the beach a short walk from home.
