Anti-Racism and Black Authors

As two white girls we will never begin to understand the hardships that black people go through on a daily basis. What we can do is educate ourselves and support the Black community.

Whilst collating this list, we realised that our bookshelves are very white and we want to change that. Our education only focused on texts by white people (mostly old men) and so we feel like we’re behind the times. Although we have this list, we want recommendations. Who’s your favourite black author? Which books should we read to be better informed? Help us be better.
