Fairytales For Millennials ~ Bruno Vincent

Anyone who knows me knows I love a good fairytale. Whether it’s an original or a funky new retelling I’m all over it. So when on a recent visit to Waterstones I saw this book on one of the tables and I knew it just needed to be in my November TBR list. Also after previously loving ‘Politically Correct Bedtime Stories’ by James Finn Garner, I knew this would be another firm favourite of mine. And I was definitely not disappointed.

From retellings of Snow White, Gretel and Hansel and Sleeping Beauty all adapted in the modern world are ingenious. Full of woke princesses, pigs struggling up the property ladder and the ugly sisters being CEOs of the family business. So hilariously written that anyone who has grown up in this generation will be able to relate to.

The perfectly chosen comparisons to modern-day society are well written and made a read that had me laughing after every page. This was a quick read, only 164 pages, it was very easy to fly through the chapters one after the next but I tried to pace myself. I didn’t want to get to the end too quickly and end up yearning for more.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys fairytales and is looking for a quick read. But also anyone wanting something refreshingly funny and ironically current. Of course. I gave this book a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ star rating and I am intrigued to read more of Bruno Vincent’s retellings.
